Scripture: 2 Thessalonians 3:6–3:15
The ultimate goal and main point of this last section of Paul’s letter is the peace of the church. Some of the Thessalonian believer’s disorderly behavior was disrupting the peaceof the church. Because the peace of the church is of vital importance, discipline of those living disorderly lives in the church is necessary. Therefore, by way of introduction, we need to pause and note the importance that Paul places on discipline and why it is necessary for preserving the peace of the church. In 2 Thessalonians 3:6-15, Paul reveals 4 purposes for church discipline thus highlighting its necessity and importance for preserving peace in the church.
