Entrusting the Gospel to Future Generations

Paramount Kids is the children’s ministry (K-5) of Paramount Church.

Our Mission

The greatest need for every child is to come to know and love Jesus Christ as revealed in the gospel. We see the Psalmist declaring…

”One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.” (Psalm 145:4)

Paramount Kids exists to entrust future generations with a passion to make the gospel paramount in all things for the sinner's joy and the Savior’s glory.

Our Burden

Regrettably, children’s Bible curriculum and instruction are often moralistic. Bible stories and characters are held out as moral examples to be followed and “appropriate” moral lessons are offered as “relevant” life applications (e.g., “Life Lessons From David and How to Slay the Giants in Your Life”).

This approach to Bible instruction veils the big picture of the Bible (Lk. 24:27), isolates Bible stories from their intended purpose and degenerates into legalism. Ironically, such moralizing, even with the greatest of intentions, ends up leading children (and adults) away from the gospel. Graeme Goldsworthy, noting the consequences of such an approach, writes…

“So much of the application is thus moralizing legalism because it is severed from its links to the gospel of grace. By the time many of these children reach their teenage years they have had a belly full of morality, enough, they would think, to last them for the rest of their lives. They thus beat a retreat to live reasonably decent gospelless lives.” (Preaching the Whole Bible as Christian Scripture, p. 151)

Our Focus

Through our gospel-centered curriculum, our desire is to pass on the gospel, not moralizing legalism, to future generations. We desire to raise up gospel-driven children by helping them grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ (2 Pet. 3:18).

Each week our teachers lead our children in singing songs, teaching them age-appropriate, gospel-centered Bible lessons, praying, memorizing Scripture, and engaging in a craft that is related to the lesson for that day.

Our Security

Paramount Church is committed to providing a loving and safe environment for our children. Just as in our nursery and preschool group, all teachers for Paramount Kids are required to undergo background checks with the Duval and St. John’s County Sheriff’s departments.

For the safety and security of your children, all parents must check in their children prior to attending worship. Check-in begins at 10:00 a.m.

Upon check-in we will ask for the following personal information:

  • family member’s names
  • children’s names and birthdates
  • home address
  • phone number
  • any special instructions (allergies, special needs) for your child.

You and your child will be given matching identification tags that are exclusive to your family and your visit. Your child will need to wear the name tag portion of your matching identification tags which bears a code that is matched to your portion during checkout at the end of the service. During checkout, you will return to where you checked your child in and show your tag in order for your child to be released back to you.

Once your family is checked in, one of our children’s workers will be happy to show you and your child where to go. On your way home, be sure to ask your child: “What did you learn today?”

A Special Note

If for some reason, your child needs you during the worship service, we will flash your family identification code onto the screen in the worship center. We would ask that you exit immediately and go to the children’s check-in/out. We will then bring your child to you upon seeing your identification tag.
